Goals for 2009

I tend not to make New Years resolutions, but rather goals. In 2008, they were:

  • Learn RegEx better
  • Learn Spring Annotations
  • Learn Hibernate Annotations
  • Jog at least once a week
  • Sleep regularly
  • Buy a house
  • Do not to procrastinate

Well it looks like I accomplished my professional goals but not my personal ones. Some of them I couldn’t help, like the sleeping (though I did see the doctor) and some I could have help (I procrastinated jogging, so that was a twofer).

This year will be no differet, here are my goals:

  • Create a central and public repository for all my projects, proof of concepts, and playground things (http://github.com/jcblitz)
  • Exercise at least twice a week whether it’s stretching, lifting, or running
  • Get my timesheets done on time (which is Friday afternoon, Monday morning the latest)
  • Separate work life and home life a little better (which is generally my fault, I get a little obsessive)
  • Try to blog at least once a week whether it’s software related or just some musings in general
  • Go out more. I highly enjoy staying home but I think it will be better if I go out once in a while
